Volunteer FAQs
1. Do I need prior experience working with seniors?
o No! A heart for service, patience, and willingness to connect is what matters most.
2. What kind of background check is required?
o Volunteers must pass a criminal background check, per senior care facility policies.
3. What is the time commitment?
o Volunteers are asked to attend two gatherings per month (1 hour each) and are encouraged to visit residents individually at least once a month.
4. What if I can’t lead devotionals or sing?
o That’s okay! There are many ways to serve, including offering prayer, listening, and simply spending time with residents.
5. Will I be placed on a team?
o Yes! Volunteers work in teams of at least four, and each team is assigned to a specific senior care facility.
6. Are there training or guidelines for volunteers?
o Yes. Volunteers will receive guidance on interacting with seniors, leading devotionals, and facility-specific expectations.
7. Do I need to be part of a church to join?
o Volunteers are encouraged to be part of a Christian faith-based community. However, Community Connections is open to anyone with a heart to share with seniors.
