Operation Christmas Child

Every year, Celebrate Seniors organizes the seniors at Windsor at Celebration and collectively, we collect items such as toys, clothing, craft items, school supplies and personal hygiene for shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Money is also collected for these items as well as shipping.

Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has been sending shoe boxes to children around the world.  Over 150 million children in over 100 countries have received a shoe box

Here's information on the ministry, a part of the Samaritans Purse:

Since 2018 our seniors have gathered together to fold boxes, sort and choose gifts and toys, write letters of encouragement and pack the boxes.    Each of the boxes includes a note from and a photo of one of our residents as it travels to remote parts of the world.  We've sent over 200 shoeboxes in our partnership with Operation Christmas Child.

The pictures above are some of our seniors as they packed over 100 boxes that were shipped out in 2019.  This past year, 2021, the boxes were packed by volunteers and travelled to central and western Africa.    We recently had a 'back to school' drive at the Windsor with many of the residents providing needed school supplies for students of all ages.  The supplies that can't go into the shoeboxes are donated to a local ministry, "M25," that serves children and family in Kissimmee, Florida.
