About FaithDialog.org

Our Vision
The British author and the Nobel Prize laureate for Literature in 1907 Rudyard Kipling said: "East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet." FaithDialog.org aims to prove that Kipling was wrong. We dream of bringing the two worlds together to discuss the most important and fundamental issues of life. The walls that are built between nations by the cultures of hate, prejudice, and fear, can only be torn down when the hearts of men know peace. Our emphasis is on restoring relationships across boundaries of civilization, nation, and culture, by addressing the myths and stereotypes that breed enmity. By bringing people together, in dialog, we wish to emphasize our common humanity. We resist characterizations of others that are dehumanizing, especially abstract labels that appear to remove others from membership in their God-given human family. We believe that each life is as valuable as the next, no matter what country the person was born in.

Who Are We?
Most of the founding members of FaithDialog.org belong to different nationalities and backgrounds, have lived in both the West and the East, felt the suffering, concerns, and aspirations of both worlds, and knew from personal experience that a discussion on religion, politics, and spirituality did not have to degenerate into confusion, fighting, and anarchy. On the contrary the founding members understood that peace and understanding could be achieved by sharing different perspectives; by listening to each other from the space of love, respect, tolerance, mercy, and compassion.

The founders and supporters of this web site belong to different religions and denominations, and believe that honor is in serving each other, and holiness is in humility and self-denial.
